Farm Fire Insurance
The farm properties program provides property (and liability) insurance for farm and residential property that does not meet the requirements of a farmowners program.
Types of dwellings generally written under this type of policy include:
• Tenant Occupied Dwellings & Mobile homes
• Owner Occupied Dwellings (that don’t qualify for farmowners policies)
• Dwellings Under Construction
• Seasonal Dwellings
• Vacant and Unoccupied Dwellings
The Covered Causes of Loss (Perils) Chart will allow you to compare the coverages available for your home, farm structures, personal property and related additional expenses.
Your farm structures and farm personal property are insured against the Form 1 causes of loss listed in the Covered Causes of Loss (Perils) Chart.
Coverage for damage by Weight of Ice, Snow or Sleet can be added to qualifying structures.
Principal Property Coverages:
Form 3 Coverage – Special form for farm fire policies covers the residence and its related structures. Coverage A & B are covered against risks of direct physical loss unless excluded. Personal Property (Coverage C) is covered for the Broad form perils.
Although there are different types and amounts of coverage you can choose for your farm dwelling, most farm fire policies generally include property coverage only. Liability coverage can be added for an extra charge where applicable.
• Damage to Home (Coverage A)
• Damage to Other Structures on property (Coverage B)
• Damage to insured’s Personal Property (Coverage C)
• Additional Living Costs (Coverage D) - Covers additional livings costs or fair rental value if an insured peril makes the dwelling unfit for use.
