Homeowners Insurance

Homeowners Insurance For most people, their biggest asset is their home. And your home is filled with possessions that you have accumulated over the years and continue to accumulate. Losing your home and/or possessions in it would be devastating to you, emotionally as well as financially.

Certainly homeowners insurance protection is an integral part of homeownership. Not all homeowners policies are the same - having the level of coverage you need at an affordable price should be your goal. That's why it's important to have an licensed independant insurance agent educate and advise you on your options and help you find a policy that meets your needs and fits your budget. For more information or service, contact your local agent. Use our agent locator to find an agent near you.

The choices of homeowner’s policies that are available today have some similarities and differences (as referenced in the Covered Causes of Loss (Perils) Chart. Although there are different types and amounts of coverage you can choose for your home, most homeowner policies generally include property and liability coverage.

The property coverage provided by a homeowner’s policy pays for:
 • Damage to Home (Coverage A)
 • Damage to Other Structures on property (Coverage B)
 • Damage to Personal Property (Coverage C)
 • Additional Living Expenses (Coverage D)

Liability coverage provided by a homeowner’s policy pays on behalf of the insured for damages caused by an occurrence related to the insured premises or the insured’s personal activities. The Covered Causes of Loss (Perils) Chart will allow you to compare the coverages available for your home, non-farm structures, personal property and related additional expenses: Principle Property Coverages:

Forms 1, 2, and 8 insure property covered under Coverages A,B,C, and the related costs covered under Coverage D, against risks of direct physical loss by perils indicated to the left.

Form 3 insures property covered under Coverage A and B and related costs under Coverage D against all risks of direct physical loss, with certain exceptions. Property covered under Coverage C is insured against risks of direct physical loss by perils shown for Form 2.

Form 4 provides coverages for individuals who rent. Coverage is provided for personal property and household possessions from the Form 2 perils. Personal liability and medical payments are included.

Compare the Differences:
Using the Covered Causes of Loss (Perils) Chart, you can quickly compare the coverages that each form provides for your home.
